sorry for lack of updates, aint really find good shit to flip but now im back with great shit "Bob James - Hands Down" from 1982.

A nice litle set from Bob James -- thanks to a good degree of warmth in the keyboards, which still include Fender Rhodes alongside acoustic piano and some more advanced 80s keys! While other artists of his generation were really schmaltzing things up by this point in time, Bob still keeps things pretty laidback and cool -- mostly using smaller instrumentation on the tracks, and going for a lean mode that retains the best focus on his keyboard lead and solos. Some of the tunes are mellow, but still nice -- and titles include "Shamboozie", "Spunky", "Macumba", "Roberta", "It's Only Me", and "Janus".

seeing mc random's post i decided to post some more stuff that's public domain.

check out www.musopen.com for a huge collection of public domain classical music. public domain basically means that something has no copyright, patent, etc and is free to be used (in the case of music) as a sample without any royalties. a lot of it might not be easy stuff to work with but nevertheless, there are some gems there.

i like to use the shuffle feature to see what stuff i can find that sounds good. plus the info they give on the people you find are interesting.

Tips for the lazy piano player

Running out of ideas when you're trying to make an original beat? Well i got some good solutions that will help you make some dope shit.

TIP #1:
Use Midi Files: to find some, a simple google for "midi files" will suffice, i found this directory of links: http://www.harmony-central.com/MIDI/files.html

After i get some midi files from video games or whatever, i will drag them into fl studio and mess around with different parts to get a new song. Usually i try to not make it really obvious what i sampled. That's why i like finding midi files for random video games.

TIP #2
Use kozong (http://digital.hollmen.dk/?koZong). This is a random chord generator. i usually pick the key, and press create song and you will be given chords for the Verse, Chorus and Bridge. Usually i will then input these chords using the chord feature in the piano roll of FL Studio and then mess around with them sometimes changing the timing, chords, etc to get a good song.

Hope all you "composers" got some good ideas to help make some songs. These are particularly helpful for when you're feeling lazy or just having a creative block.

Well the moderators from fp have contacted me and they had a problem with all the samples i was posting on fp without encouraging some other point of the threads than downloading samples. I understand where they're coming from and i'm going to stop posting new blog posts on FP. I'm going to keep my blog in my signature just so people remember the link.

I'm setting up some more updates too. Dont forget to check the blog. I'm working on my drum kits and i'll post up a demo kit sometime soon i guess.

hey, well it's 4 am in NY right now and i'm bored so i decided to make a post on my blog lol. not sure if that many people will read it but if you do, thanks for reading my blog! i've been pretty busy recently and in the coming months i'm not sure how often i'll be able to update the blog considering i'm going to a new school and such. anyways, i have a couple other goodies i think i'm gonna upload once i finish getting all these dusty fingers volumes up (i just started uploading 7-12)

A great synth: ReFX Junox2

Before people say i'm cracking a program, let me say this, this VST has been retired for years and i decided to check it out. I must say, it is one of the best VSTI's i have in my arsenal. Not only does it come with great presets but it is very easy to tweak to make dope synths even to a preset whore like myself. It's a shame it's retired. ReFX sells other synths at their website http://www.refx.net/ but based on the demos i've used, they are much more geared to electronic producers, but that hasn't stopped hip hop producers in the past has it :D

thanks to the Firefox Down Them All extension (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/201) i've gotten roughly 3 and 1/2 gigs of jazz samples (FOR FREE) off that site.

Here are some tricks i picked up to maximize the samples you can download off that site without paying (i know, i feel terrible but u gotta do everything u can to spend as little as possible when ur producing, gotta cop that mpc memory upgrade, soundcard, camera, and compact flash card lol)

1) Each time you press the Listen link, you will get a different set of samples
2) Each time you press the Download MP3 link, you will get a different set of samples
3) In either Listen or Download MP3 pages you can type in stuff in the To Find A Tune search area. If you run out of ideas, use the Playlist page for some.

i took this beat i made relatively recently and threw it over the acapella of Jay-Z's Lyrical Excercise. i think it came out pretty good. the sample i used is Al Green - I'm Still in Love With You.
